100 containers seized in Paramaribo presumed to contain illegal wood

April 23, 2021 - Paramaribo, Suriname

Police in Suriname seized 100 containers of wood in Paramaribo on April 17th. According to official statements from the government, the wood is presumed to be illegal. At least some of the containers were seized in Jules Sedney Port and reportedly had already been sealed by customs. The containers were transported to a location for investigation. This is a developing story.
