January 28, 2021 - Mato Grosso, Brazil

Teams from the 1st Platoon of Tactical Force in Itaúba (600 km from Cuiabá) sent five men to the police station on Wednesday for environmental crime. A woman was identified. The police were called to support the agents of the State Secretariat for the Environment due to a report of illegal deforestation on a farm, located at KM 40. There, the information was confirmed and a loader, tractor and chainsaw were found in the forest. Two men were handling the vehicles and cutting the trees. They claimed to be an employee of the machine owner. The amount paid would be according to the wood extracted from the area. The accused confirmed that he owned the machines and told of the scheme of theft of wood on the property. He appointed a woman as owner of the farm who would receive R $ 500 for each wooden truck that leaves the place. On average it leaves three to four loads of wood per week. He said that the destination of the wood is the city of Itaúba.
