Illegal sawmills dismantled in Teratak Buluh

November 26, 2020 - Riau, Indonesia

Forestry authorities (Ditjen Gakkum KLHK) and the Riau Police dismantled several illegal sawmills in the village of Teratak Buluh in November. Some of the timber supplying the sawmills is believed to have originated in Rimbang Baling Wildlife Reserve. Logs were also seized in Gema village. Two trucks, 12 bandsaws, and 7 diesel engines were also secured.
