November 18, 2020 - Riau, Indonesia

Riau Police and Gakkum KLHK raided 12 sawmills near the Kampa River in Siak Hulu on November 18. According to Detik, some of the sawmills were unable to provide business licenses. It was suspected that some of the logs in the yards originated from protected forest areas. A number of sawmills were allegedly abandoned by their workers in anticipation of the raid.
