August 29, 2020 - Mato Grosso, Brazil

According to Olhar Direto, eight logging and lumber companies were suspended, one was closed, 540 cubic meters of illegal wood were seized and 1,600 cubic meters of fraudulent forest credits were blocked in the municipality of Marcelândia in an operation that took place between August 17 and 29. The operation was conducted by IBAMA and the Military Police and focused on the used of forest credits from authorized timber projects to launder wood illegally extracted from other areas.
