The Federal Police arrested three sawmill managers and seized 120 cubic meters of logs and 325 cubic meters of lumber allegedly without proof of legal origin in an operation carried out on August 27 in Macapá, Pedra Branca do Amapari, and Tartarugalzinho. An investigation by IBAMA alleges that the sawmills were part of a criminal scheme that commercialized illegal wood using the transfers of fictitious forest credits.
