August 25, 2020 - Mato Grosso, Brazil

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized 36.77 cubic meters of illegal lumber on highway BR-174 in Pontes e Lacerda on August 24. The wood allegedly departed Cujubim, Rondonia and was destined for Brasilia. The police found that part of the cargo included a species not authorized in the Document of Forest Origin (DOF). The document authorized the transport of Dinizia excelsa. However, wood of the species Vochysia sp. was found in an amount greater than 10% of the total volume declared in the DOF making the document invalid and the cargo illegal.
