August 17, 2020 - Puno, Peru

SERFOR seized three vehicles transporting a total of about 85 cubic meters during the period July 31 - August 2 at the control post of San Gabán in Puno. The Forest Transport Guides (GTF) were suspected of fraudulent origin and not all species transported were listed. The wood was allegedly from the Las Piedras district in Tambopata province, Madre de Dios. Species included Pashaco (Schizolobium amazonicum, Parkia nitida), Lupuna (Ceiba pentandra), Sapote ( Matisia cordata), Aleton (Slonea sp.), Catuaba (Erisma uncinatum), Caraña (Trattinnickia peruviana), Achihuana (Jacaranda copaia) and Misa (Couratari guianensis).
