August 18, 2020 - Lima, Peru

In an operation involving SERFOR and other Peruvian authorities, about 172 cubic meters of Balsa lumber (Ochroma piramidale) were seized in the port of Callao. According to SERFOR, the wood is of illegal origin and was harvested illegally. The wood originated in the province of Puerto Inca and was already packed for export to China.
