August 6, 2020 - Bahia, Brazil

Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized 17.85 cubic meters of wood including Ipe and Garapeira flooring in transit at kilometer 800 of highway BR-242 in Barreiras on August 5. The wood came from Mato Grosso and was destined for Itabaiana. The GF (Guia Florestal), mandatory documentation for the interstate transit of products from the native flora of the Atlantic forest, was not presented. When asked, the 58-year-old driver reported that he was unaware of the need for the requested environmental documentation and that he has been carrying out this transport for more than 2 years.
