July 28, 2020 - Pará, Brazil

Part of Operation Amazonia, police together with the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability (SEMAS) seized 36 cubic meters of logs, dismantled five camps, and arrested the son of the owner of the land where illegal deforestation was occurring on 1,600 hectares in Novo Progresso. According to SEMAS, the owner faces a fine of about US$ 1.6 Million and a charge of environmental crime.
