July 24, 2020 - Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil

The Military Environmental Police (PMA) found an illegal sawmill in Nioaque on July 23. The sawmill did not have the mandatory environmental licensing. Also, 24 cubic meters of Angico, Louro-preto, Ipe, Ximbuva, Sucupira, and Canafístola logs and lumber were in the yard without Documents of Forest Origin (DOF). The wood and the sawmill were seized. The owner of the sawmill was fined about US$ 2,200.
