July 17, 2020 - Mato Grosso, Brazil

53.42 cubic meters of lumber were seized by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) on July 17 on highway BR-163 in Sorriso. The Forest Guide authorized the transport of 40.1 m³ of sawn wood, however the measurement carried out by the team resulted in a volume of 53.42 m³, exceeding by more than 13 m³ the authorized value and consequently rendering the Forest Guide invalid. The cargo allegedly originated from Guarantã do Norte and was destined for Jandaia do Sul. However, the Forest Guide did not specify the route, which is another irregularity that invalidates the guide, as the route must be detailed from the origin to the destination.
