July 17, 2020 - Rondônia, Brazil

Federal police carried out eight preventive arrest warrants and eight search and seizure warrants issued by the 3rd Federal Court of Justice in Porto Velho. The purpose is to investigate an alleged criminal organization dedicated to illegal logging in the Jacundá National Forest, specifically in the region of Vila Nova Samuel, district of Candeias do Jamari. In addition to illegal logging, the organization also allegedly practiced counterfeiting of forest credits in order to give licit appearance to the wood.
