The Amazonas Public Prosecutors Office (MPAM) in Humaitá filed a Public Civil Action (ACP) against a sawmill located in the District of Realidade. Several irregularities were found with the wood documentation during an inspection by IPAAM.
According to the prosecutor, the company received and kept around 5,571 m³ of roundwood in deposit, in disagreement with the license obtained and contrary to the legal norms and regulations relevant to the timber industry activity, as well as received roundwood without a Document of Forest Origin (DOF).
According to the MP, the logs in the yard were not properly identified with a view to making it possible to trace the wood at the origin, with no minimum information on its origin, such as name, log number, volume and length, as there was also no proof of commercialization and / or donation through the issuance of DOF or destined in the system. The quantitative analyzes indicated a difference of 76.41 percent of logs above that declared in the DOF in the yard of the company. In addition, the log labels were missing the species identification, log number, cross measurement of the tips, length, volume and date of receipt, making inspection and monitoring procedures difficult.
